We have gotten a great start to our fundraising campaign and we need your help to keep the momentum going! We started so many projects last year and we need to get back to Zambia to complete them. Plus, we have so many new projects to get started on! Teach One International has shipped a container full of supplies for the school. The container is sealed shut and will not be opened until we get there to manage the contents and hand everything out. We are hoping to set up a computer lab, a sewing classroom, hand out shoes and school supplies to the students, and get started on the security wall fence! Please, help us invest in the future of the students of the Zambian Vocal Group Academy. |

Sylvester and I have been talking and praying a lot about going back to Zambia this summer. He will for sure be going and has begun to secure some of the funding. I feel like I really need to be there too. I started a lot of projects with the teachers at the ZVG Academy that I left unfinished. I feel like I could make so much more of a difference for the children at the school if I could just go back and finish what I started. Of course we would be taking Brandon and Madison with us. They consider Zambia to be their other home and have plenty of family to hang out with while we work at the school. I've been working for the Teach One International ministry a lot this year so it's been a constant reminder and has caused a brainstorm of ideas on how to make this years trip happen. I know that we asked a lot of our friends and family for help last year through our fundraising. We understand that not everyone will be able to give to this cause year after year. So we are asking for help with fundraising ideas instead of money itself... unless you have an extra dollar or two... we will take that too of course! Do you have an idea on how the Sichangwa family can fundraise to hit our goal of $12,000? We found a few local businesses that might partner with us. For example, there is a frozen yogurt place in Frisco, TX that would agree to donate a % of sales of the people that came in saying that they were there to support our fundraising effort. That's great, but how many people in Frisco do we really know that we could convince to buy frozen yogurt on the same day? Maybe if you have a big company, or belong to a mission minded church, you could help. We could find a local organization where ever you live and you could use your contacts to ask people to go out on that specific day and support the Sichangwa family on their mission to Zambia. Or maybe your church likes to do fundraiser dinners, or you know a local business who might want to help? Maybe your sunday school class would want to work together to sponsor us? Maybe your school would like to do a fun run and give the procedess to our trip If you have any ideas for us, please let us know!!! We know that God has called us to be there and to help those children, we just need to figure out how to get there. We have prayed about it for months and we know that God will provide a way. We also agree that we ought not to sit around and wait for something to happen. If we forget to listen for His answer, we would be loosing out on a wonderful opportunity. We also agree it's not likely that God will drop cash from the sky, but we do know that He will open up a door and make all of our fundraising possible. We are hoping that you may have a key to that door.
I'm a busy person, so often it takes a big sign for me to really get it.I really believe that God knows me so much better than I know myself. He's more than aware that I'm a busy mom and that sometimes I forget to stop and listen. I'm a real believer in prayer, but sometimes I forget to really sit quietly and listen for the answer. I'm a right now kind of person. My poor husband can't even pause before he answers me and I'm already onto my next round of questions. God made me, so He knows this, and He loves me anyway. When God really wants to get my attention, he sends me a big sign. I mean a flashing, neon, glittery, comes with a song and speaker system kind of sign. One of the many reasons that He is an awesome God. When we were in Zambia, Sylvester's family was gathered in the house together. The electricity had gone out (totally normal there) and they had proceeded to cook dinner outside on the blazers in the dark. We were getting ready for VBS with the kids at the school that week and were taking advantage of all of the nieces and nephews to practice teaching the songs to. We were teaching the kids the song My God is so big. It's Madison's favorite song. We had all of the kids in the living room singing and dancing together. The adults came in to let everyone know that dinner was ready, but instead they all just stood around watching and enjoying the children singing. I announced that we could do one more song and then we would all sit down to eat. As their sweet little voices sang "My God is so Big, so strong and so mighty there's nothing my God can not do"... clap clap... in that instant, the lights all came on. The room fell silent, then everyone cheered. These are the kind of signs that God sends me. Lights a dark room, calms my soul in the middle of a storm, makes a nervous planner stop worrying about the future and just trust. Every time I pray and patiently try to wait for the answer, I can't help but think of that song. The children's sweet innocent trusting voices praising God in the dark. Their trust in Him is amazing and their happiness and joy during struggles just warms my heart. I sat in a meeting tonight and just really felt like God's presence was in the room. I half expected the electricity to shut off or for some other big sign to stop us in our tracks. Before I walked into the meeting, I prayed for wisdom, patience, boldness to speak the truth, and understanding. My big sign is still in the works, but I'm at least at Thank's to all who were praying for me from my vague prayer request tonight. The power of prayer is pretty awesome... just remember to stop and listen for His answer even with out the big signs. 2 Corinthians 4:6
